Bengaluru Open FIDE Rapid Rated Chess Tournament 2026 Creates Karnataka History with Record 1,093 Participants

The Bengaluru Open FIDE Rapid Rated Chess Tournament 2026, organized by Sajjan Academy, has created a historic milestone in Karnataka chess by attracting 1,093 participants, making it the highest-ever participation recorded for a chess tournament in Karnataka.
Held on 16 August 2026 at Nexus Koramangala Mall, Bengaluru, the event brought together players from across Karnataka and various parts of India, ranging from young beginners to experienced FIDE-rated players. The tournament was conducted under the aegis of KSCA and AICF, following all FIDE regulations.

The tournament featured a prize fund of ₹4 Lakhs, including cash prizes, trophies, and medals across various categories. More than 200 prizes were awarded, encouraging participation from players of all ages and rating levels.
